Christian Book Review: Jenna’s Cowboy by Sharon Gillenwater:

I enjoyed this contemporary romance which highlighted the challenges retired vets face, returning from war-torn countries.

Jenna Callahan Colby is a single mom, as her high-school sweetheart turned out not so sweet. He left her for the fame and fortune of football.

Jenna’s childhood friend, Nate Langley returns home after two tours of duty. He’s always loved Jenna, but can he overcome his PTSD to be a stable partner and step-father to Jenna’s little boy?

I appreciate the authors balanced view on the need for professional psychologists and medicine along side pastoral support. The author attributes Nate’s fast recovery through his faith, but hasn’t neglected the importance of working with a support team, including doctors.

Sharon did a fantastic job at reflecting the emotional relief when Jenna’s little boy is embraced as Nate’s own. The interactions between the two is just precious.
